The Belgian gaming commission has revised the list of blacklisted poker sites in the process adding more names to the list, and recommended them to be blacklisted by the country internet service providers. The commission when delivering its verdict stated that it took the measure so as to prevent users from illegal site operating without a license in the country. One of the reasons why the poker sites were blacklisted is because they did not receive backing from land based casinos operating in Belgium.

The listed sites offer online poker. The blacklisted site can reapply for new licenses. Last year, a new law regulating online poker was passed. The step taken by the Belgium commission is in line with the law. Currently, the following have received licenses to offer poker:
Poker players living in Belgium are only allowed to play poker in the three sites, until the other sites receive licenses. Under the new law, sanctions will be there for players who play in the blacklisted sites.
The Belgium gaming commission was established on the basis of the Act of may 7th 1999. This body is mandated to issue licenses to casinos, drinking establishments, gaming arcades, and advice the government, and parliament among other roles as specified in the act.
