Chamani breakthrough puts African women on the map

The leading African country in Poker is South Africa, and as such, players from this country are often the representative of Africa at the WSOP. One such player, who is leading the way, is South African poker player Ronit Chamani. Ronit, is an accomplished female poker player on her own right, and currently is the second placed in the money list of all the South African women poker players. With her form, she is posed to be the most successful South African women ever, and indeed the entire African content at the WSOP. As of now, she has managed to win herself $100,000 in tournament wins.

Passion for poker yield fruits

Chamani, is a predominately cash game player. Her last minute decision to play poker at this year’s WSOP has paid off. Twice, she has cashed. She first cashed at the $1,500 Re-entry event. She would later finish in the 31st position at the $3,000 pot-Limit Omaha event; this coincidentally was the largest event that she had ever participated. At the time of publishing this article, she was still in contention at the $2,500 Four-Max event. In the event, only 40 players were still in contention. Despite her finish at this event, she is still guaranteed $7,525. But, she has set her eyes at the top price of $392,476. If she manages to finish at the sixteen or better position in this event, she will be the all time highest earning South African Woman player. Chamani thanks her passion and skills of playing poker to her former boyfriend who introduced her to the game when many women used to back off the game as it was seen as a man’s game.
