The state of Nevada is the, new popular, destination for online poker companies. Since Bally technologies request for a license was approved, more than thirty companies have submitted requests to be issued with a license to operate in the state with Wynn resort being the latest addition to the growing list.
Wynn was one of the first companies to request a license to operate in the United States, but it was never to be when the united state department of justice seized the domain name of Poker stars due to what it termed as engaging in illegal activities. At that time, Wynn resort had entered in a mutual agreement with poker stars. News sources report that Wynn is keen to join this lucrative market and is now in serious discussions with Facebook social gaming giant Zynga with an aim of bringing online poker to the state of Nevada. Zynga is popular as it has over 30 million users monthly. The choice of Zynga is partly motivated by the fact that the company has a global market place.
The state of Nevada has also attracted other important corporations such as Caesars entertainment and MGM resorts international, which are waiting for their request for a license to be approved by the Nevada gaming commission. Some of the companies that have received approval for licenses are William Hill, International gaming technologies, and Bally technologies. The state of Nevada it seems has finally decided to embrace online poker, and game analyst believe that the first sites will be up and running in the month of December.
