An overview of video poker games

April 2, 2012 17 0

Video poker is played using five-cards. This game played in a machine resembling a slot machine game. Many online casino enthusiasts, poker players and gamblers draw a lot of similarities between slot machines and video poker but, they consider video poker to be much better compared to slots. This is because the more skilled you are, the more returns you are likely to earn. It is therefore not only dependent on luck; your level of skill will also determine how much your winnings will be. This is contrary to slot machines that have been programmed to only pay-back a percentage of money fed on them.

This means that, if a certain number of player’s deposit coins worth $ 10,000, the machine may be programmed to pay back 50% of that. You will therefore win $ 5000 from that lot. However, this is not the same mechanism that works for video poker. The machines in video poker are programmed to give you winnings depending on how well you play.

History of Video Poker Games

However, as with many things technological, video poker games have not always been there. They are a relatively new casino game. The very first video poker games were seen on market shelves in the mid 1970s. However, it was not until a decade later that they became popular in casino halls. This success and popularity of the game can be attributed to manufacturer IGT (International game technology). IGT, embarked on an intense marketing campaign that made video poker popular in all corners of the world. Most of the people who love video poker are people who are intimidated to play poker or other casino games due to the risks involved. There are also people who are not intimidated as such but, are just uncomfortable playing casino games on the tables. These people love and enjoy the solitary that comes with playing a game they love on their own without having to talk to other people.

Playing Video Poker Games

Contrary to the belief that video games are hard to learn and play, video poker games are actually very easy to play. The first thing that you have to do is to deposit a coin or coins, either one coin or five coins. After doing this, you will be given a number of cards to play with. It is always wise to deposit the maximum number of coins (usually five coins) because this gives you the chance to win the maximum amount that is winnable. After this, as a player, you will choose which cards to hold and which ones to discard. The last hand pays out the winnings based on the particular payout table for that specific video game. The most popular video poker games are deuces wild and jacks. Most of these games are usually played either as single hands or as multi hand versions. In the multi hand version, the player has the option of playing 3, 5, 10, 50 or even 100 hands of poker simultaneously. If you are not confident about your knowledge of the game, especially the online poker, there are many platforms in which you can improve your knowledge. The most important of these resources is the internet. There are many websites that are dedicated to educating you about the game – regardless of whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran. There are always new tips and tricks of winning the game. In these websites, you can find not only articles about the game but even versions of the game that you can download to practice at home.
